What is Profhilo and how is it different from filler?
Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid made without chemical cross-linking. Dermal fillers are cross-linked so they hold shape and add volume; Profhilo is designed to spread through the tissue and stimulate collagen and elastin, improving skin hydration and firmness without changing facial shape. If your goal is more projection or contour, filler is the correct product, not Profhilo.
How many Profhilo sessions do I need?
The standard protocol is two sessions four weeks apart, with maintenance at approximately six months. Some patients with significant dehydration benefit from a third initial session. Your assessment will confirm this rather than assuming the default.
Does Profhilo hurt?
It involves ten injection points in total — five per side of the face — using a fine needle. Most patients describe brief stinging at each point. The whole injection takes around five minutes. Topical numbing is available on request.
How soon will I see results from Profhilo?
Hydration is often noticeable within one to two weeks. The collagen and elastin effect develops over four to eight weeks, which is why the second session is scheduled at four weeks. Full effect is generally assessed around eight weeks after the second treatment.
Is Profhilo safe?
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in skin and Profhilo has a well-established safety profile when genuine product is correctly injected. Risks relate to injection technique and product authenticity rather than the molecule. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is active infection at the injection site.
