Home · Profhilo vs Rejuran: Which Does Your Skin Need
Not a contest. One hydrates and remodels, the other repairs. The useful question is which your skin actually needs — and often the answer is both, in sequence.
They are different molecules doing different jobs, so the question is rarely which is better. Profhilo is ultra-pure hyaluronic acid made without chemical cross-linking, and it works on hydration and bio-remodelling. Rejuran is a polynucleotide injectable purified from salmon DNA, and it works on the skin's repair machinery. If your skin is dehydrated and losing firmness, that points to Profhilo. If it is damaged — scarred, reactive, texturally rough — that points to Rejuran.
Hydration & remodelling
Repair
This is the most common misunderstanding and it is worth being blunt about. Dermal fillers are cross-linked so that they hold their shape and add volume in a specific place. Neither Profhilo nor Rejuran is designed to do that. Profhilo is made to spread through the tissue rather than sit in it. Rejuran acts on how the skin repairs itself. If what is bothering you is lost volume in the midface, neither of these is the answer, and a clinic that sells you one anyway is not listening.
In a consultation the decision usually turns on what the skin is actually doing rather than on age. Skin that is thin, dry and beginning to crease without being damaged responds well to Profhilo. Skin that has been through something — active acne, aggressive laser elsewhere, a compromised barrier, post-inflammatory change — usually needs repair first, and Rejuran is the more logical starting point.
They are not mutually exclusive. Sequencing them across a treatment plan is common, and in practice the repair work often comes first so that the remodelling has better tissue to work with. That sequencing is a clinical judgement, made after looking at your skin.
Neither lifts structural laxity. If the concern is a softening jawline or descent rather than skin quality, the honest answer is that a skin booster is the wrong category and energy-based tightening or a surgical opinion is the relevant conversation. Results from both are gradual, build across sessions, and require maintenance. A single session of either will not deliver what the before-and-after photographs show.
The right question is which your skin needs.
Send a photograph and your concern. dr. Jesslyn will tell you what is appropriate — or whether a different treatment is.

They are different molecules with different mechanisms. Profhilo is ultra-pure hyaluronic acid made without chemical cross-linking and works on hydration, elasticity and bio-remodelling. Rejuran is a polynucleotide injectable purified from salmon DNA and works on the skin’s repair capacity, barrier function and texture.
Which one should I choose?
Dehydrated, crepey skin with early laxity points to Profhilo. Damaged skin — acne scarring, a compromised barrier, sensitivity, rough texture — points to Rejuran. The decision is made by examining the skin, not by age or by which is more popular.
Can Profhilo and Rejuran be combined?
Yes, and they frequently are, sequenced across a treatment plan rather than given together. Repair work often comes first so that remodelling has better tissue to work with. The sequence is a clinical judgement made at consultation.
Is either of them a dermal filler?
No. Dermal fillers are cross-linked so they hold shape and add volume. Profhilo is designed to spread through tissue rather than sit in it, and Rejuran acts on repair. If the concern is lost midface volume, neither is the right treatment.
How many sessions does each need?
Profhilo is typically two sessions four weeks apart, with maintenance at roughly six months. Rejuran is typically three to four sessions spaced two to four weeks apart. A single session of either will not produce the result shown in before-and-after photographs.
Is Rejuran safe if I have a fish allergy?
Rejuran polynucleotides are purified from salmon DNA. A fish allergy is uncommon as a contraindication but it is genuine, and it must be declared at consultation so an alternative can be considered.
Will either treatment lift a sagging jawline?
No. Neither addresses structural laxity. If the concern is descent rather than skin quality, energy-based tightening or a surgical opinion is the relevant conversation, and a skin booster is the wrong category.
