From Jakarta to Seoul: The Training Behind Every XERF Treatment at Elea Clinic Bali
Certification before the first patient, workshops, a hundred treatments, then an advanced programme in Korea. Each stage changed something specific about how a face is planned here.
Short answer. Buying a device and knowing how to use it are different things. Before the first XERF patient at Elea, dr. Jesslyn completed manufacturer-supported training in Indonesia and was certified as a XERF practitioner at XERF Workshop 2026, managed and supported by idsMED and Cynosure Lutronic. After several months of clinical experience she completed the Cynosure Lutronic Academy programme in Korea on 12 August 2026. Why a device is not a protocol
A radiofrequency system offers depth, energy and pulse settings. It does not tell you which of them suits a forty-two-year-old jawline with thin skin and moderate laxity, where to reduce energy because filler was placed six weeks ago, or when to treat less because the tissue will continue to remodel for twelve weeks. Those are clinical decisions, and the published safety literature for monopolar radiofrequency makes clear why they matter: complications are uncommon but are linked to settings and technique (Fitzpatrick 2003, Weiss 2006).
Stage one: certification before the first patient
dr. Jesslyn was certified as a XERF practitioner at XERF Workshop 2026, a programme managed and supported by idsMED and Cynosure Lutronic, before the device was used on a patient here.
Certification of this kind establishes that a clinician has been trained on the device by the people who built and distribute it. It is a floor, not a ceiling: it says the operator knows the machine, not that every treatment plan will be right.
Stage two: hands-on workshops
Certification is followed by workshop sessions, first in Indonesia and later in Korea. What workshops are for is calibration: seeing how the device behaves across different faces, comparing plans with other clinicians, and discovering how far apart two reasonable practitioners can be on the same patient.
Stage three: the first months of clinical experience
Elea introduced XERF in Denpasar at the end of June 2026 and passed one hundred treatments within three months.
Volume on its own proves nothing. What it provides is pattern recognition: which faces respond quickly, which respond modestly, where the second side of a jaw needs more energy than the first, and which patients should have been advised towards a different treatment. Those observations are what made the advanced programme in Korea useful rather than abstract.
Stage four: the advanced programme in Korea
On 12 August 2026 dr. Jesslyn completed the Cynosure Lutronic Academy programme on the dual monopolar RF (6.78 & 2 MHz) system, training alongside dermatologists and plastic surgeons and joining the clinical sessions behind the technology. The point of going was not the device, which the clinic already owned, but the case volume: parameters compared against outcomes across far more patients than any single clinic sees. What changed in our treatment plans
- Planning became regional. A deeper pass along the lower face and under the chin, a mid-depth pass across the midface, and a lighter pass on the neck, rather than one setting for a whole face.
- Dosing became deliberate. Pulses are budgeted per region and per side. Under-dosing is a common reason patients report that radiofrequency “did nothing”.
- History changed the plan. Recent injectables, previous HIFU or liposuction and certain zones — the thyroid region above all — mean reduced energy or no treatment at all.
What patients can ask any clinic about training
Who will hold the device during my session? What training have they had on this specific system, and can I see the certificate? How many treatments has this clinic performed with it? Has anyone here trained on it since installation? A clinic confident in its answers will give them without hesitation. What training is required to use XERF?
Cynosure Lutronic certifies operators through its own programmes. dr. Jesslyn holds the Certified XERF Practitioner certificate from XERF Workshop 2026 and completed the Cynosure Lutronic Academy programme in Korea on 12 August 2026.
Why train again on a device you already own?
Because settings are decisions. Manufacturer programmes compare parameters against outcomes across a case volume no single clinic accumulates quickly, and they are explicit about where not to treat.
Does training change my result?
It changes the plan, which is what produces the result. It cannot change what radiofrequency is capable of: mild-to-moderate improvement, developing over months.
