Apply the same test to any clinic you are considering. If the Kompetensi field reads only Dokter, you are seeing a general practitioner, not a dermatology specialist.

Continuity is the thing that is hardest to find here. Elea Clinic keeps records, so a plan built in March is still a plan in October. Common concerns among long-term residents:
- Tropical acne and fungal folliculitis. Frequently mistaken for ordinary acne and treated with the wrong thing for months. They look similar and respond to opposite treatments.
- Accelerated photo-ageing. Bali’s UV index does in five years what a temperate climate does in fifteen.
- Melasma. Common, stubborn, and made worse by several devices marketed as brightening treatments.
- Heat rash, humidity dermatitis and reactions that do not appear in colder climates.

Where do expats go for skin treatment in Bali?

Can I get a prescription as a foreigner in Indonesia?
Yes. A registered doctor can prescribe for foreign patients. Bring or photograph anything you are currently using so it can be reviewed.
Do I need Indonesian health insurance?
No. Aesthetic and most dermatological treatments are paid directly. Payment is accepted in Indonesian Rupiah and by Visa or Mastercard.
Is acne different in a tropical climate?
It can be. Fungal folliculitis is common in humid climates and closely resembles acne, but responds to different treatment. Being treated for the wrong one is a frequent reason acne fails to clear in Bali.
Can I plan treatment before I arrive in Bali?
Yes. Send photographs and your dates on WhatsApp and a plan can be prepared and the appointment confirmed before you fly.
